She was also a member of Chi Delta Sorority and the Hill Winds Society. During Jennie’s BE year at Thayer, her ENGS 89/90 Project, the Hartford Riverwalk, won the Special Faculty Award for Engineering and Service to Humanity for using engineering for the betterment of society.

Following graduation, in 2018, Jennie started working at Burns & McDonnell, an engineering consulting firm, in their Environmental Services division. There Jennie became the New England region expert in New York State permitting for overhead and underground transmission lines. She would help large scale transmission projects obtain the necessary approvals from New York agencies. Once the projects were under construction, Jennie was responsible for overseeing compliance of the project with the existing permits and managing the environmental team on site.

In July of 2022, Jennie, inspired by what she learned in one of Professor Benoit Cushman-Roisin’s classes as an undergraduate, took a month off work to tour Bali and to study at Bamboo U and the Green School. After returning to the United States, Jennie contacted Professor Benoit and was offered the opportunity to work as the term project consultant in ENGS 171 during the winter of 2023.

In June of 2023, Jennie left her position at Burns & McDonnell. She joined the seasonal field crew at Hutchins Farm, a USDA certified organic vegetable and fruit farm outside of Boston. She loved being outside all day, working with her hands, and learning about sustainability and engineering as it relates to agriculture. Starting in January 2024, Jennie has moved to New York City and is pursuing her Master’s of Sustainability Management from Columbia University. Elizabeth Hunneman

  • Dartmouth College, AB, Engineering Sciences modified with Studio art, 2005
  • Thayer, BE, 2006
  • Senior Project Manager, TriPyramid Structures, Inc.
  • Location: Westford, MA

Liz has been a part of the team at TriPyramid Structures since 2006 (yes, she did entirely miss the memo on the “gig economy”). TriPyramid Structures collaborates on the design and manufacturing of architectural hardware for a variety of projects, from the Pyramid at the Louvre to the Abstract Flag at the Smithsonian, and every Apple Store in between. As a senior project manager, Liz works with small groups of architects, engineers, and machinists to perfect the details of each component required to bring any customer’s vision to life. Every day brings new challenges and, even more fun, a constant flow of new things to learn about.

The problem-solving techniques Liz practiced while at Thayer have been fundamental to her professional success. Perhaps more importantly, Thayer instilled in her the confidence to try (and fail, and try again), allowing her to consistently be a leader during the innovation phase of product development. She greatly misses the Machine Shop, DFR, the old CAD Lab, and spreading out all the pages of Engs 76 problem sets on the tables in the Great Hall.

Andrew Jean-Louis

  • Dartmouth College, AB, Engineering Sciences modified with Economics, 2009
  • Thayer, BE, 2010
  • The Wharton School of Business, MBA, 2020
  • Vice President, Wood Mackenzie
  • Location: Houston, TX

As one of the leaders of Wood Mackenzie’s consulting practice, Andrew works with energy asset owners to manage operational costs after major company events such as mergers, acquisitions, or activist investor led turnarounds. His work brings him all across the globe to help energy companies figure out how to drive costs down, improve operational performance, and navigate emerging topics within the ESG space. Prior to Wood Mackenzie, Andrew worked at Navigant (now called Guidehouse) to partner with the Department of Energy as they set federal standards on energy and water usage for residential and commercial equipment.

Andrew was a late arrival to Thayer after trying his hand a pre-law track freshman and sophomore year. However, Andrew smartened up and pursued his love for problem- solving by squeezing in engineering prerequisites and core courses in his junior and senior years. He dove deep on his capstone course with Hypertherm where he worked on a heating and cooling system for a portable laser battery pack that can enable operations in extreme climates after major weather events. To this day, he still reminisces on the time spent in the lab tinkering with CAD designs of battery cases and stress testing batteries under rapid charging conditions. Thank you Google Photos for the annual reminders!

As a New Yorker trapped in Houston, Andrew spends most of his time either being chased by one of his three children under three or negotiating with his wife, and fellow Dartmouth alumna, Brittney Jean-Louis on who gets to take a nap while the other wrangles our little ones.
